How to cook Jerk Lentils?

When it comes to cooking lentils on the stovetop go for green lentils, Lentils de Puy, brown lentils, or black lentils. For this recipe, we went with brown lentils.

  • Rinse the lentils in a fine-mesh sieve under the faucet. While rinsing, make sure to pick out any bad lentils, debris, or small stones which can sometimes sneak in.
  • Chop up onions, sweet pepper, scallion, grape tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and thyme
  • To a deep pot add olive and all the ingredients chopped up

  • Add to your chopped vegetables jerk seasoning(use mild or hot to your preference), complete seasoning, Adobo. Then add your lentils to the pot

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of lentils
  • 1 cup of grape tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup of onions
  • 1/4 cup of sweet pepper
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tbsp of ginger
  • 1 cup of carrots
  • 1 scallion
  • Thyme
  • 1 tsp of Salt
  • 3 tbsp of jerk seasoning mild or hot
  • 2 tbsp of complete seasoning
  • 1 tbsp of adobo
  • 1 tbsp of Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp of jerk powder

Instructions

  • Rinse the lentils

  • Chop up onions, sweet pepper, scallion, grape tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and thyme

  • To a deep pot add olive and add your chopped vegetable jerk seasoning, complete seasoning, Adobo. Then add your lentils to the pot and add water

  • When the water is dried out add your carrots and some water, complete seasoning, black pepper, and jerk powder, and boil until lentils are soft to your liking.

  • Now it’s time to serve
