How to Make a Strawberry Margarita From Scratch
Supplies You’ll Need
- co*cktail Shaker
- Glasses
- Knife
- co*cktail Jigger
- Medium Saucepan
- Mesh Strainer
Ingredients for A Strawberry Margarita
- Strawberry Simple Syrup – Make homemade or you can use a store-bought syrup too.
- Fresh Strawberries – Fresh juicy, organic strawberries are best!
- Tequila – Blanco tequila is best for this recipe. See our recommendations below.
- Lime Juice – Always fresh squeezed.
- Cointreau – You can also use triple sec or if you want it less strong, fresh orange juice.
- Sugar or Salt for the Rim – We prefer a sugar rim for a strawberry margarita but salt works too!
You can add a dash of soda water over the top of the co*cktail if you prefer.
First make the simple syrup. In a small saucepan combine equal parts sugar and water and 5 fresh strawberries sliced.
Bring to a boil, then let simmer for about 5 minutes. Muddle the strawberries the sugar mixture once they’re tender. Don’t boil or cook too long or the mixture will be thick, making the margarita texture too thick.
Then, strain through a mesh strainer into a heatproof jar or container. Muddle the strawberries in the mesh strainer to get the flavor out.
Next, in a co*cktail shaker muddle two fresh strawberries in the bottom. Then add in tequila, lime juice, strawberry simple syrup, cointreau and a handful of ice.
Shake vigorously for 30 seconds to dilute the ingredients and get the ingredients nice and cold.
How to Rim a Glass
Prepare your margarita glasses by wetting the rim with water then dipping them into a plate of sugar (we prefer for strawberry margaritas) or salt.
Fill the prepared glass with ice and then strain the margarita into the glass.
If you prefer the co*cktail to be even more diluted, add a dash of sparkling water over the top!
