FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long to cook pork steaks in the oven at 180ºC (350ºF)?

Thinner pork steaks like this take about 30 to 35 minutes to bake at 180ºC (350ºF). For thicker pork steaks, it may take 40 to 45 minutes.

How long should I marinate this recipe?

Our suggestion is to marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you are short on time, you can skip this step.
Skipping the marination step might speed up the process, but the steaks will lose flavor and tenderness.
Remember that while marinating enhances flavor and tenderness, it's important not to over-marinate, especially with acidic marinades such as lemon or orange, as this can negatively affect the texture of the steaks.

Can I store in the fridge?

Yes, you can store in the fridge! Allow the pork steaks to cool to room temperature and place them in an airtight container. Never store the steaks in the fridge for more than 2 days. Beyond this time frame, it might start losing quality and develop microorganisms.

Can I use another type of fresh herbs to mix with the breadcrumbs?

Absolutely! You can use, for example, chopped rosemary. It depends on you personal taste.

Can I add garlic powder to the breadcrumb mixture?

Yes, you can!

How do you keep pork moist when baking? ›

Does pork get more tender the longer you cook it? ›

Unlike the more lean tenderloin and chops, pork shoulder is an incredibly forgiving cut of meat. It becomes more tender as it cooks and benefits from a lengthy cook time, so even if it stays on the heat a few minutes too long, you won't suddenly end up with something dry or rubbery.

Is pork steak healthy to eat? ›

Pork steaks have a reputation for being unhealthy and too fatty. However, despite this stigma, pork steak can actually be a healthy addition to your diet when consumed in moderation and prepared in a balanced manner.

Are pork steaks healthy? ›

Pork is a rich source of certain vitamins and minerals your body needs to function, like iron and zinc. It's also an excellent source of high-quality protein. Minimally processed, lean, fully-cooked pork eaten in moderation can provide certain benefits when added to your diet.

Why are my pork steaks tough? ›

Because pork chops are such a lean cut, they are relatively quick-cooking and prone to overcooking. When they're cooked for even a few minutes too long, whether it's in the oven or on the stovetop or grill, they're quick to dry out, and — you guessed it — become tough, chewy, and less than appealing.

What are pork steaks good for? ›

At 400 degrees F, a 1-pound pork tenderloin will cook in 8 to 10 minutes after being seared on the stove. Use a meat thermometer to be sure.
